Gold at the FINA Swimming World Cup 2015

Congratulations to Nic Brown who has come away from the Meet as a multiple medal winner.  The Meet was held in Hong Kong over two days – 25 and 26 September and Nic walked away with a Gold and Silver medal.

Friday racing saw Nic qualify for the following finals.

  • 200Fly – with a time of 2:01.33, which saw him qualify 2nd fastest.
  • 50Fly – with a time of 25.11, Nic qualified 8th.

Nic also competed in the 100Free where he finished 24th with a time of 54.36.

In the 200Fly final Nic, swimming in lane 5, edged out Aleksandr Kudashev of Russia by 1/100th of second to take the Silver medal.

Saturday evening saw Nic competing in the 100Fly final.  His time of 54.44, put him in lane 4, alongside the top ranked Russian swimmer in lane 5.  Those with access to Fox watched Nic in action during Event 21 at 6:24pm.

It doesn’t get any closer than this with a dead heat between Nic and Viacheslav Prudnikov (RUS) for first place and a Gold medal, in a time of 53.64.  Nic came from behind, catching Viacheslav over the final 50m to claim Gold.  The pair touched just in front of Yiyong Hu (CHN) with HK local Geoffrey Cheah in fourth.

World Cup Update – Beijing (29-30 September)

Day 1
Nic qualified second for the 200Fly with a time of 2:01.57.  The final saw Nic put up a big fight but was run down in the last few metres to finish a credible 4th.
